A Fajita and Tabbouli to go please

(photos taken on Diyafah Road, Dubai)
What have we got here? A Lebanese grill restaurant with a twist as evident in the poster at their entrance. I personally don't know the financial situation of the owners of this place, but I can confidently say if you're after customers this certainly isn't the way to go. Want to make a difference? Then how about getting back to basics, relooking at your brand proposition and actually living up to it. Not a single Lebo restaurant I know here has been able to really capture the vibe of Beirut nor get right the amount of garlic and pickles in a chicken shawarma. With a restaurant named 'Beirut' I'd think that's as good a place to start as any. So spare us the Fajitas for pity's sake. I'll pass by in a month's time and I hope by then that poster's down.

I think you're being unfair. It's like saying only the Mexicans should make nachos, and the only the Italians should make pasta. Have you tried the fajitas?? They might taste better than you think.

This Lebanese restaurant might make a killer Fajita, but it will never take off. Why? Because we like things to be simple. We go to Mexican restaurants to get the best nachos and Italian restaurants for the best pasta. Don't underestimate the power that country of origin plays here - and this is just the food industry. Consider German cars, Swiss watches, and Italian fashion. Doesn't mean they have a monopoly on either of these categories - but in a world of cluttered offerings and confusing messages we at least have some sense of order to help us in our decision-making process. All I was trying to say was "simplify". If you're a Lebanese restaurant then be true to what you are. Leave the fajitas to the Mexican themed restaurants.
